United Family Practice Health Center
The mission of UFPHC can be traced back to the 1930’s
UFPHC has its roots in the 1930’s, with the Wilder Dispensary, set up within the old walls of Miller Hospital. Later the dispensary changed its name to MOD Clinic – an acronym for Miller Outpatient Department. In 1990, MOD Clinic, West Seventh’s Helping Hand Health Center and the private practice of Dr. Timothy Rumsey merged, creating United Family Practice Center. The Center operated within the Allina Health System, specifically United Hospital, and was modeled on the ideas that Dr. Rumsey had developed in his early medical practice at Helping Hand Clinic.
Dr. Rumsey’s vision and the Center’s mission of dedication and commitment to those who face significant health disparities, disproportionate economic hardship and a lack of access to adequate health services remains steadfast.
On March 13, 2004, United Family Practice Health Center became a free standing Federally Qualified Health Center "Look-Alike" (FQHCLA).
